Horizons at Studio 22

HorizonsPlease save the date — Saturday, April 16th, in the evening — for the opening reception of my upcoming show, Horizons, at Studio 22 in Kingston. I’ve been painting up a storm and I’m quite excited about this new series. Check out the link below for details. I won’t be posting the paintings on my website until after the opening — I want you to see them in person! Your computer screen just doesn’t compare to the experience of standing in front of a big canvas! Hope to see you there (details to follow).…/03/23/horizons-new-works-by-debra-krakow/

Studio 22 Opening

Studio 22 in Kingston is launching a new exhibit featuring the photography of Bernard Clark and the sculpture of Rick Lapointe. Bernard’s photos are really gorgeous — this series features local musicians. Twelve of my paintings will be in the show too, including my Undercurrents series. Please join me at the opening reception from 8 to 10:30 pm on Saturday, April 18th, 2015. The show runs from April 14th to May 24th. Openings at Studio 22 are always fun — live music, great food and happy conversation!

Biennaial Roadshow, Venice

Exciting news! I was one of the artists selected to be in the Biennial Roadshow at La Biennale di Venezia, an international art show running from May 9 to November 22, 2015 in Venice, Italy. The Biennial Roadshow will be a large-screen, digital display in a gallery on Via Garibaldi – right in the centre of Castello, the Venetian neighborhood just between Giardini Biennale and Arsenale Biennale. The Giardini and Arsenale are the two most important venues at The Venice Biennale. The art will also be presented for one night as a digital display at a gala during the opening week of the Biennale. (If I hadn’t just got home from India, I’d be hopping on a plane to Venice!)

The goal of the Biennial Roadshow is to provide exposure to lesser known artists who aren’t typically invited to international exhibits, but whose work merits recognition. To read more about it, visit their

The pieces featured in Venice will be from my Undercurrents series. You can see them in person at Studio 22 in Kingston. The show opens tonight at 8 pm — hope to see you there!

Ted Hsu, MP Calendar — January

If you live in the Kingston and the Islands federal riding, your 2013 calendar arrived in the mail this week from our MP Ted Hsu. The January image is a black-and-white version of this watercolour I did a few years ago during the Wolfe Island Chili Fest. The lake froze well that year, and there were sleigh rides on the lake, as well as skating, lots of chili and of course Wolf Tails (the Wolfe Island version of Beaver Tails!).

Koyman Galleries

I am very pleased to announce that I am now being represented by Koyman Galleries in Ottawa. The main gallery is in a beautiful loft-style space at 1771 St. Laurent Blvd., and there is a smaller gallery in the Rideau Centre as well. Please drop in and take a look at my latest work, or check it out on the gallery’s website at
